PETROL PRICE WAR
LEGAL PROCEEDINGS CANTERBURY MOTORISTS’ VENTURE [ Per Press Association. 1 CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 10. The Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary, Ltd., has applied to the Supreme Court for an injunction against National Service. Stations Ltd,, which acts as selling agents for Canterbury Automobile Association petrol under an arrangement with the Canterbury Automobile Association. The oil company claims that National Service Stations Ltd. has been mixing Plume motor spirit and another spirit and selling it to the public as G.A.A. spirit. This is a new development in the petrol price war, which has been in existence in Christchurch for the last two months. The allegation of the Vacuum Oil Company is that this action by National Service Stations Ltd. is calculated to be prejudicial to the operation of the oil company, in that the addition of its motor spirit leads the public to the belief that C.A.A. spirit is possessed of higher qualities than is actually the case. Mr A. T. Donnelly is representing the Vacuum Oil Company in its application.
