SCHOOL BURNED
BUILDING AT NGAERE [ Per Press Association ] ELTHAM, Oct. 11. The Ngaere School, a three-roomed building, was totally destroyed by fire this morning. The outbreak occurred in the ceiling above the stove pipe in the infant room nt 11-5 and within an hour, owing to the strong wind, nothing was left but the brick chimney. The children, who were at lessons, responded to the fire drill smartly and marched outside. Re - cords, the piano, and some of the pupils’ books were saved. The building was erected nearly half a century ago.
