PERSONAL ITEMS. I Special “Chronicle” Service. ] Mr and Mrs J. Smith, returned from a visit to Sydney on Tuesday. Mrs F. E. Wilson, is spending a few days in Wanganui. Mr and Mrs W. Roache, Kawhatau, are visiting friends in Auckland. Mr and Mrs J. Dickenson, Maniii, have left for a few weeks holiday in Wanganui. Mr G. Galloway has returned from a visit to Palmerston North. Mr R. Carter has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs A. Moyle; Manui, left on Tuesday for Blenheim. Mr and Mrs W. Shaw, Ruahine, are spending a holiday in Auckland. FOOTBALL. A committee meeting of the Mangaweka Football Club was held in the Rest Room when a full attendance was presided over by Mr C. Furber. In order to gain funds it was decided to hold a dance early in July. The following committee were appointed to attend to the arrangements. Messrs I. Dickson, F. Heise, R. Young, J. Hamilton. C. Furber, T. Dawkins, C. Shaw. D. Wright, G. Galloway. E. Trewley and G. Phyn,

GOLF MATTERS. The members of the Golf Club, are very keen again this season, and the club shows a great increase in membership against last year. A medal match was played last week, and evoked great interest. I. Dickson was the winner with a card of 95—24 —7l, and D. Johnston runner-up with 97—24—73. ' During the week-end a team from [Taihape visited Mangaweka and four- | somes were played. The day ended in a win for Taihape. CROQUET. A special general meeting of the Croquet Club was held, when the president, Mr.s D. Watkins, occupied the chair. The business was to discuss the advisibility of amalgamating with the Bowling Club. After a general discussion the secretary was asked to write the Bowling Club suggesting that the clubs amalgamate, and if this was done the Croquet Club would pay half the expenses of the upkeep of the lawns.
