DAIRY BOARD’S PLIGHT MR GROUNDS IN THE SOUTH. [ Par Pxess Association. 1 DUNEDIN, June 7. At the South Island Dairy Association meeting, Air Grounds, chairman of the Dairy Control Board, explained the crisis which culminated in the resignation of Air Goodfellow. Following on the lines of his previous statement, he said that politicians, the Press, and financial interests were joined against 'the Produce Board to usurp control of the industry. The meeting passed an unanimous vote that Air Grounds be retained as chairman of the Board. Remits were carried: 44 That the conference views with alarm the Government’s action in imposing a duty on dairy machinery, and strongly urges that this extra burden on tire farmer be removed”; also, 44 That the Government exempt from the heavy traffic license fees lorries used by farmers for their own purposes only.”
