HINEMOA BEATEN ONE-POINT VICTORY FOR STAR Main interest among Wanganui hockey followers on Saturday was shown in the Star—Hinemoa A contest, which resulted' in the first win by the former tgam over Hinemoa. This was in face of strong opposition from the yellow and blacks and it is notable that the maroons finished with nine men. Tenacity, however, won the day for them. Star made the pace from the first and Hinemoa gained respite rarely. Tizard gained possession for Star, and outpacing the defenders, notched a smart goal. More pressure from Star had no effect and it was not long before Hinemoa attacked. In a rush by Weller, Russell and Connell, the last-named sent in an invincible shot. In the second spell, Hinemoa made the pace a cracker throughout and Star defenders werg the busiest persons on the field for a time. The maroons eventually collected their forces and rattled Hinemoa badly, Latham being responsible for the winning point. Final scores: Star 2 Hinemoa 1 Messrs Saunders and Howell refereed. FOUR POINTS MARGIN WESLEY NO TROUBLE TO OLD BOYS. Wesley senior hoekey team were not very troublesome to Old Boys on Saturday afternoon, and the whites ran out easy wdnners after a tight first spell. Wesley did not retain their initial vigour in the concluding session. Bennett scored three goals for Old Boys and Le Brun and McDonald one each. F.erris made the only Wesley goal.
