CHARGES DENIED

ALLEGED GRAFT CANADIAN IMMIGRATION PERMITS [ Australian Press Assn. ] OTTAWA. May 18. Mr W. J. Egan. Minister of Imm* gration. refuted the graft charges connection with immigration permits, before the inquiry. He stated that of 3061 permits issued 2900 were sponsored by members of Parliament. No one did so for gain and not one officer in the Department received a cent. The Department had discovered attempts to use bogus permits but none had passed the officers. The matter had been placed in t.hc hands of the mounted police, and one man was arrested. He had received complaints of two instances where money had been taken for permits.
