A VIVID COMEDY OF MODERN LIFE

VIRGINIA VALLI IN “LADIES MUST DRESS.’’ Virginia Valli, who plays the leading feminine role in “Ladies Must Dress,” to be screened at the Majestic Theatre to-night, was born in Chicago and received much of her earlier dramatic training in that city. She w as an apt dancing pupil and she attributes her motion picture poise to this development. At first it was her intention to become a professional danseuse. Miss Valli has starred in “A Lady of Quality,” “The Signal Tower.” “Siege,” “The Price of Pleasure” and “The Family Upstairs.” Prior to signing with Fox Films to play opposite Lawrence Gray in “Ladies Must Dress.” a vivid comedy-drama of modern life, Miss Valli worked opposite George O'Brien in “Paid to Love” and »n “Last ►Side, West Side,” made by Fox Films in New York. She also appeared in the leading feminine role in ‘ ‘ Stage M adness. ’' In her present picture Miss Valli starts as a plain little stenographer who finds that her sweetheart is turning against her because she does not “dress the part” as other girls do. When she dons modern dress, however, she finds that she is a target for “the menace,” in the person of Karie Foxe. This develops complications which cause endless trouble until Gray sees the light and offers the only logical solution.
