DOMINIONS’ CONSTITUTION PROPORTIONAL COMPARISONS (A. & N.Z.) LONDON, April 18. Parliamentary returns of the contributions to Britain by the Dominions towards naval defence, according to the 1927-28 estimates, shows that Britain provided £58,000,000, Canada 1,725,000 dollars, Australia £5,736,000, New Zealand £665,000 (including £125,000 of the first instalment of the contribution for the Singapore base), and South Africa £125,000. The proportion of expenditure on naval defence to the total import and export trade of 1926 and 1927 rcspeotively was: Britain 2.87 ami 2.83, Canada .07 and .08, Australia 1.63 and 1.91, New Zealand .60 and. .70, and South Africa .09 and .07. The expenditure per head of population for 1926 and 1927 respectively was: Britain 308 and 306 pence, Canada .16 ami .19 dollars, Australia 198 and 221 pence, New Zealand 96 and 112 pence and South Africa 21 ami 18 pence, Europeans only.
