SANDON
SMALL GIRL’S DEATH [ Special " Chronicle ” Servio®. J There was a feeling of sorrow in the district when news was received; of the death of Jean, the six-year-old daughter of Mrs Frank Jenkins. The little girl was taken ill on the Monday night and was ordered to the hospital on Tuesday morning. An operation was deemed necessary but imall hope was given of recovery. The end came at about three on Wednesday afternoon. Although the weather was very rough a good number attended the funeral at Sanson on Friday. The bearers were boys from the school and the other children were formed in line as the procession passed the corner. The Bev. W. S. Neal conducted the service at the house and graveside. Among the many floral tributes was a wreath from the children of the lower room at the local schoolPERSONAL Friends of Mr and Mrs D. King will regret to hear that their little daughter (Joan) is an inmate of a private hospital in Palmerston. Taken suddenly ill on Saturday night the doctor ordered her to the hospital. An operation was performed on Sunday morning and although her condition is very critical, she is reported to be doing as well as can be expected. GUY FAWKES DAY The time honoured celebration was carried out with glee by the younger members of the town on Saturday. Bon fires were going and guys were wen and truly burned to the accompaniment of squibs, rockets and other types of fireworks. It would be a good idea on a future occasion for the better class of fireworks to be pooled and set off in an organised way.
