A GOVERNOR INDICTED
SCANDAL IN U.S.A. CHARGE OF TAKING BRIBE FROM KLAN LEADER. NEW YOBK, Oct. 23. Governor Jackson, of Indiana, has been indicted by the grand jury for conspiracy to commit a felony and attempted bribery. The specific charge against the Governor is that he accepted a bribe of 10,000 dollars from a prominent leader of the Ku Klux Klan, who is now serving a sentence in prison to appoint a local Klansman to a post in the State. The action of the grand jury is the climax of a twelve months’ inquiry, during which charges of wholesale political corruption in Indiana were made by scores of witnesses.
