AMERICAN FARMERS

A TRIP TO EUROPE SEEKING EXPERIENCE A. & N.Z.) NEW YORK, May 1. Some 500 farmers from 45 districts are sailing on July 30, under the direction of the American Farm and Bureau Federation with the co-operation of the Department of Agriculture, to visit Europe to study agricultural conditions and methods of marketing and irrigation in Denmark, large scale drainage in Holland, forestation in Germany, terracing in the Rhineland, landscape gardening in England and France, and wasteland reclamation and dairying in several Scandanavian countries. The farmers will spend seven weeks in their studies which will include visits to 43 cities to see the disposal of agricultural products to the consumer. The trip is the outcome of experts’ surveys, indicating that many successful agricultural practices in Europe are probably adaptable to American conditions and it is desired that farmers should make first hand investigations.
