PATRIOTIC LEAGUE [ From th® " Chronicle’s M Special Correspondent ] The annual general meeting of the Waverley Patriotic League was held on Thursday, when Air A. E. Symes prt> sided over a very small attendance of the public. The chairman, in his opening remarks, deplored the lack of interest shown by the public, especially as the eftuse was one which deserved their keenest sympathy. The secretary read the annual report which stated, inter alia. —The object for which the association was formed still continues to serve, its purpose. The call for. relief has been more than the previous year and each case has received the full consideration of the committee. The sum of £257 10s has been granted to necessitous cases during the year, against £134 last year. As will be seen from the balance sheet, this means that £123 10s more was paid out The total credit balance to date is £3078 9s 3d Afade up as follows: Government war bonds .. £2OOO Post Office Savings Bank 418 22 Bank N.S.W. fixed deposit 600 Current account 6 7 1 Grand Total .. £3078 9 3 The chairman in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet thanked the committee and various other people for their co-operation in the past and made a special appeal for public support in the way of coming along to the annual meetings and taking a share in the management of the league. It was the duty of every citizen to do his bit in connection with the Patriotic League and h c trusted that, next year would see an improvement in tliis respect. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Chairman, Afr A- E. Symes; hon. secretary, Air H. W. James; hon. treasurer, Air F. Johnston; lion, auditor, Air J. C. Gray; hon. solicitor, Mr C. H. Graham; committee, Messrs G. H. Graham, A. G, Wallace, A. J. Adlam, H. Bradmore, P. Duffey, Rev. W. Kelly, D. D. Forsyth, S. Aloore, 8. J. Taylor.
