Countess Cathcart’s appeal against the decision of the Ellis Island immigration authorities excluding her from the country will bo heard by- the Secretary for Labour on Monday. The possibility of wealthy Americans being barred from European countries as a reprisal for the immigration authorities excluding Countess Cathcart is being discussed here. It is recalled that Earl Craven, with whom the Countess is charged with misconduct, was admitted to the country li it November. STORM OF PROTEST ALLEGATION OF DISCRIMINATION “SINGLE STANDARD OF MORALS” Received Feb. 15, 1.5 a.m. (Reuter) NEW YORK, Feb. 13. The exclusion of Countess Cathcart has raised a storm of protest from women in various sections of the country. The headquarters of the National Women’s Party on Saturday petitioned Secretary Davis to admit the Countess, charging the Immigration officials with discrimination, “while admitting without question the man involved in the same case. The party stands unqualifiedly for a single standard of morals.” A similar protest was lodged by the New York League of Women Voters. Commissioner Curran summoned Ea»l Craven to his office to question him and c also to investigate his record.
