SHEEP AND CATTLE DECLINE PIGS SHOW SLIGHT INCREASE [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Feb. 3. Fat cattle, sheep and lambs sold at cheaper rates at Burnisdo to-day, and fiat pig prices were slightly higher than those of last week. Fat Sheep.—An entry of 2052 head. The yarding was a mixed one, with another big supply of ewes and comparatively few heavy wethers. The demand opened well down on good sheep, and continued at par to 2s down on the prices of a week ago. All classes were affected, land particularly ewes of medium quality. Extra prime heavy wethers made from 42s to 455, prime heavy 37s 6d to 40s, lighter 31s to 32s 6d. Heavy ewes made from 24s to 275, and lighter ewes sold at from 14s 6d to 20s. Prime wethers sold on a basis of 5d to 5Ad per pound, ewes 4Ad, and lambs BAd to 94d. Lambs. —Another good quality entry of 890 fpt lambs. The demand was much the same as that of last week, and prices were about 9d down on medium weights, heavies also declining. Exporters and butchers were buying. Extra prime lambs made as much as 31s, prime 27s 9d to 28s 6d, lighter 24s 6d to 25s 3d, unfinished to 22s fid. Fat Cattle.—A big yarding of 305 head, containing not many prime bullocks. The market opened easier than last week by 15s to £1 per head. The following were the. early prices:— Prime bullocks £l6 10s to £lBs 10s. lighter £l2 to £l3 ss, heifers £8 10s to £9 15s, cows £7 10s to £lO 10s, prime ox beef 38s to 40s per 100 lbs, medium weight 355, prime heifers 32s 6d, cows and light heifers 20s to 255. Store Cattle.—A yarding of 320 head, including all cl'asses, with a big swag of cows. Any steers yarded wore passed at auction, and the others had a slow sale.
Pigs.—There were 116 fats and 63 stores. Fat pigs sold at rates higher than those of last week, land stores had good inquiry.
