THE “USEHOLD”

CONDEMNED BY PRIME MINISTER LABOUR’S TIDDLY-WINKING IDEAS. (Special to “Chronicle.’’) OHAEAWAI, Oct. 19. In a blunt, whole-hearted condemnation of the “usehold’’ to-day, the Prime Minister, who was addressing a gathering of over one hundred people at the Public Works camp at Pukehuia, described the Labour ideas as a desire to be tiddly-winking with matters which were not the functions of the Government at all. “There is all this talk of taking over your property at valuation, but I don't think you will stand for it. You are entitled to sell vour house to whom you like, and for as much as you like. If yon cannot sell your cow for £lO because the State says it is valued at £5, I don’t think that will be much good to you. (Applause). It would be no good to me.”
