SECURITY PACT
LONDON, June 25. j The Daily Express, in an editorial on Mr Chamberlain’s speech, says: i “It reveals the marked fact that the ' Dominions will be allowed to conj tract out of the Pact, and, with or without the co-operation of the Dominions, the Government is to put Britain’s signature to a treaty of death. Mr. Chamberlain is the first I Foreign Secretary to admit diplomatic disunity as a principle in Imperial policy. He will go inadvisedly into I Europe, though he knows the Empire never will. His view is that though France and Britain may be involved in war with France, neither Canada, Australia. India. New Zealand, nor South Africa will be at war. It is only necessary to state the position to I sec" its inherent absurdity. If Air 'Chamberlain’s policy triumphs, the I Empire as a political, constitutional, Lund military entity will come theorejtically to an end.”
