MORE ABOUT THE PLATFORM

NEW YORK, June 29. The Democratic Convention adopted a platform containing the non-contro-versial planks as cabled on the 26th and 27th, and further planks as under:— Favouring the enforcement of all laws, condemning Republicans for not enforcing the Prohibition laws, favouring participation in world affairs as one of the surest methods of aiding agriculture through the creation of better world markets; condemning the Lausanne Treaty; favouring the fulfilment of Wilson’s arbitral reward respecting Armenia; favouring an adequate army and navy until a reduction in international armaments is carried out.

It is declared: “There is no substitute for the League of Nations as an agency for peace. It is wise and desirable to remove this question from partisan politics, therefore a referendum will be held after allowing ample time for consideration and discussion should the United States become a member of the League, withl such reservations and amendments a| the President and Senate may agree, Ind if the affirmative is given this mandate will be immediately carried out. We insist on obedience to the ordaniry processes of law, and condemn any effort to arouse religious or racial dissension.”
