AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.
HIS MAJESTY’S An excellent double-feature programme screens for the last time tonight. The first picture is “Money, Money, Money," a First National production starring Katherine MacDonald, the American queen of beauty. The story deals with life in a small town and the efforts of a poor family to keep pace with their richer friends, There will always be found people who remain in the same circumstances after years of work, whilst others will advance with the times and become prosperous. Katherine MacDonald is seen at her best in this entertaining picture, and she is well supported by a really capable cast. The second picture is “The Man Between.” a highly dramatic production, in which there are thrills galore, gorgeous settings, and a splendid attention to detail. The story denis with the trials of a yonng wife, who finds that her husband is an absolute waster: she goes through many hardships but at last finds peace and happiness. There is also an extremely laughable comedy, starring the inimitable Buster Keaton. His Majesty's Select Orchestra renders a delightful programme or incidental music; and the entr’acte, an' xylophone solo, “The Colonia! Rag” played by Mr. Trussell is a lesson in what car, be accomplished on that comparatively new instrument. MUSGROVE CELEBRITY VAUDEVILLE. z His Majesty’s Theatre is to have another complete Musgrove Celebrity vaudeville for three nights and a matinee, commencing on Thursday. Mr R. A. Shepard has already given Wanganui two fine companies, and this, the third, is said to be as good, as. if not better, than the others.. At the top of the bill Rente Riano,< direct from a successful career in London, where she last appeared in the “Music Box” revue. Renie Riano is without doubt one of the very best artists in her particular line in the world to-day, and is famed as being the possessor of a pair of beautiful legs, which she has insured for £20,000. Wellington audiences were left spellbound by her finished artistry and gorgeous frocks. Carr Lynn is another famous artist, and is said to be the world’s greatest animal mimic. He presents: “Fun in a Farmyard” and “On the Tiles With Thomas.” Clare Solly is an Australian contralto of repute, and music lovers are promised a rare treat in her singing. Guilly and Jeanny present a distinct novelty in a remarkable series of acrobatic feats on the top of a miniature Eiffel Tower, which is a blaze of coloured lights. The Alton Sisters will be seen in a clever act on the silvef wire. As an equilibrist, La Belle Onra is very hard to beat, and her act will be a distinct novelty.
