AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS. ETC.

PYGMALION AND GALATEA. AT OPERA HOUSE TO NIGHT. W. 8. Gilbert 'a fama&s comedydrama in three acts, “Pygmalion aiid Galatea,” will be presented at the Opera House to-night and again tomorrow night. The charming story of the animated statue, with the dramatic as well as humorous complications that arise should provide excellent entertainment. Those who have been privileged to see the full-dress rehearsal maintain that the play reaches full professional standard—both in acting and presentation. The cast comprises Miss Ola Paterson as Galatea; Miss AlicQ Wood as Cynisca; Mrs G. Darbyshire 5s Daphne; Miss Eleanor Latham as Myrine; Mr S. H. Smedley as Chrysos; Mr Harry Jackson as Leucippe; Mr Ronald Doig as Agesimosf Mr Robert Howell as Mimos; and Mr Paul Latham as Pygmalion. A feature of the performance will be the costuming and stage effects.

The one-act children’s play which precedes the main attraction is also described as being excellent in all details. “While the Lentils Boil,” set in the time of “When You Will,” is a rather quaint but delightful little play from America. Phyllis Taylor, Jean Ditch field, Beryl Easton, Shirley Latham, Nola Burns, John Pargetcr, and E. Latham are in the various roles. Mr Geo. Buckley has arranged a large orchestra for the entr’acte and incidental music, and the whole production, which is under the personal supervision of Mr Paul Latham, promises to be of more than usual quality. Popular prices are being charged, and scats may be reserved at H. I. Jones and Son’s.
