AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC

THE GRAND. TWO BIG FEATURES. Horseback riding on a wholesale scale furnishes one of the big punches to “The Red Warning,” Jack Hoxie’s latest Universal Western thriller, which opened yesterday at the Grand Theatre. This picture is probably the best “straight” Western that Hoxie has ever done and although there is no outstanding dramatic acting in the picture there are several dramatic situations of worth. It may well be classed as a different type of Western. Supporting this picture will be “Broadway Broke,” a very fine Selznick attraction, featuring Percy Marmont, the star of "If Winter Comes,” who is supported by Gladys Leslie and Mary Carr. A two-reel Century comedy and latest International News complete first-class entertainment. MUNICIPAL PICTURES. Owing to the Opera House being engaged this evening and to-morrow evening “Women Proof” will not be screened until Thursday evening. It is a coincidence that this picture should have the same author and director as the two previous pictures in which Thomas Meighan appeared. These were “Baek Home and Broke” and “Our Leading Citizen.” The comedy is excellent, and when Tommy, which is the name he has in the picture, by the way, does see a girl he would like to marry, she will not have him. How he finally docs get married in the time that is prescribed in the will of his father makes a wholesome comedy. Box plan at Messrs H. I. Jones and Son’s.
