CORRESPONDENCE.
"NO SUNDAY, NO CHURCH.’’ (To the Editor). Sir,—l dislike rushing into print but I feel I must refer to a letter by K.J.J. in this morning’s “Chronicle.” He tries to make us believe that church-going and Sabbath keeping as taught by the Rev. Mr Harries would be most detrimental to the community, and he is particularly severe upon Presbyterians and the Scottish Sabbath. Well, lam Scotch and lived a good many years in Scotland, yet have I never seen anything but good come of keeping the Sabbath. My home was in a rural district with a large fishing village by the sea. The church was well filled every Sabbath, and I believe there was only one man in the (parish who did not atend church tairly regularly, and he was a noted man. If R.J.J. had his way the man who did go to church would be the noted one. In the village there were schools and schoolmasters, shops and tradesmen ot all sorts, but no policeman. I am far from saying that the people were all saints, but I never heard of any crime committed in the district. The same could be said also of many other parishes. I have not yet learnt that the fourth commandment is the only one ot the ten which is to be dis regarded. Every Christian believes that “man’s” chief end i s to glorify God, and enjoy Him for ever,” and there can be no doubt that Sabbath desecration is anything but a help to this great end.—l am, etc., — A TRUTH SEEKER.
