It should be noted by old boys of the Wanganui Collegiate School and others interested that the Rev. F. Pierce, the new headmaster, will not arrive in Wellington until Tuesday morning, 29th inst., owing to unforeseen delays to the s.s. "Manuka.” of which he is a passenger from Sydney. Major E. A. Belcher, of the British Empire Trade Mission, arrived in Wellington last night from Picton after addressing meetings in th« south. He will remain here until Friday, then leave for Auckland to join the Niagara, which sails on the 29th August for Vancouver. —Pres-: Assn. At the meeting of the Marton Borough Council on Tuesday evening, the Mayor, Mr F. Purnell, in moving the adjournment of the Council, referred feelingly to the services rendered to the Borough by the. late Mr Wm. (’. Kensington, 1.5.0.. and moved “that this Council records its sincere regret at the passing of the late Mr William C. Kensington, 1.5.0., Mayor of Marton, who had served the public so faithfully and (well in very many official capacities (during a long, active and useful life, his gentlemanly bearing and courteous, being invariably an inspiration to those who had worked with , him for the betterment of the country. and that a letter expressing deepest sympathy be sent to the late Mr Kensingtons family in their bereavement.” The motion was carried in silence by the councillors standing, and the Council adjourned for a. fortnight.
