BOROUGH COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING ADJOURNED. WAR MEMORIAL RESOLUTION. A special meeting of the Wanganui Borough Council was held last evening, when there were present: The Mayor (Mr T. B. Williams), and Crs. Luxford, Richardson, Silk, Brown. Gohns, Sharpe, Green, Halligan, the intention being to discuss the notice off motion given by Cr. Gohns io rescind the resolution io contribute 2/- per capita by rate if necessary tor the proposed war memorial on Durie Hill. Several apologies were received for absence, and in view of the attendance the Mayor suggested an adjournment. Cr. Gohns pointed out that there would be absentees at the next meeting as well. He suggested an ad journment for three weeks, provided that a councillor opposing the motion would pair with Cr. Halligan, as the latter, who was supporting the motion, would be absent.
Cr. Silk said he was opposing the motion, but provided that there was nobody of his own side absent, he was prepared to pair as suggested. The suggestion was accepted in the form of a motion, and the meeting was then adjourned for three weeks.
