FARMERS’ UNION.
WAXGANI’I BRANCH. The Wanganui branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union met yesterday. Mr W. B. Cave presiding. Messrs H. A. Ruscoe and J. R. Franklin were added to the executive. Tlie head office of the Farmers’ Union requested statistics regarding the available supply of farm labour. It was asserted that supplies of labour varied considerably in different districts, and the request was referred to the chairman and secretary to deal with. It was resolved that each member ol the Wanganui branch be asked to contribute 2s 6d towards the cost of a presentation io Sir James Wilson, who is retiring from active work in connection with the union.
It was decided to support the executive s remit in favour of a round table conference of all branches of labour. It was stated that the Manganialiu members of the Fordell branch had established a Rifle Club with farmers 1 competitions. Members considered it would be a good idea for each branch to take up shooting, so that an annual district farmers’ rifle meeting could be held.
