LONDON, Dec. 2. " General Monash, in the Sunday Timesj describes the Australian victory at Hamel in July, 1918, as the first offensive operation by any of the Allies since autumn, 1917, and says it marked the termination of the purely defensive attitude oh the British front. It excited examination in many quarters into the possibilities of an offensive action on similar lines, ai^ci changed the British attitude of mind, which bore rich harvest a few weeks later.
