THE N.zTwELFARE LEAGUE. DECLARATION FOR CONSTITUTIONAL LABOUR. The National Executive of the New Zealand Welfare League makes the following declaration to the Electors of New Zealand, which it feels sure will be endorsed by all reasonable-minded people throughout the Dominion. TO THE ELECTORS, In connection with the Election now before us we desire it to be known by all, that our League desires to see a just and fair representation of Constitutional Labour in Parliament, during the war period such men as Mr. W. A. Veitch, Wanganui, and Mr. S. G. Smith New Plymouth, have shown their loyalty to the Dominion and the Empire, and have repeatedly demonstrated the fact that they are entirely opposed to the destructive and revolutionary methods of the misguided Labour Party as at present constituted and led by Mr. H. Holland. The two men above referred, to are men of broad minds, possessed of much practical knowledge, and are constructive politicians, such as are much needed for the welfare of our Country. Men and women of all shades of political opinion who are loyal citizensReformers, Liberals and Independents, have said many times over that "If the Labour men were of the stamp of Mr. W. A. Veitch and Mr S. G. Smith, moderate, reasonable men, they would support them " We say it now! The Labour problems of our time are so serious that we require all the help we can get from sound Labour men who have had considerable experience, and are swayed by abstract theories of a Revolutionary Socialistic cast. We respectfully urge upon the electors that in considering the > claims of these sensible Labour men they put aside party considerations and give them all the support they .possibly can. I We urge this not on the ground of party at all, but on the i higher ground, which all earnest minded citizens will respect, of what is best for the general welfare and the interests of the Dominion as a Nation.
