VICTORY WAR LOAN.

TO BE ISSUED SHORTLY.

(By Telegraph.)

(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sept. 1.

The Victory War Loan of £10,000,000 is to be issued immediately.. This loan, it is explained, is required to meet payment of. allowances, gratuities, cost of repatriation, treatment of wounded, and other after-war expenses. When discussing the new loan, the Prime Minister said he anticipated that this would be the last of the big war loans, but he added, it might be necessary to make a further call later to cover subsequent expenditure. War expenditure would not i cease immediately of course. Although no statement has been made on the subject yet, it is anticipated that should it be found necessary the compulsory powers of the Government will be strictly enforced.
