THE GRAND THEATRE
The change of programme to-day features tlu« famous coniaclian, John Barrymore. He ne^ds no introduction to Wanganui audiences, and. ha has long since established hmiseif a,s a general favourite, although in the latest famous Players' production in which he is featured,' "The Lost Bridegroom," gravity^ is largely intermixed with gaisty. Mr Barrymore has the role of a young, swell, who is knocked on the head by somo gangsters on his way home, and "loses his memory." The idea is certainly not new, but it is handled forcibly enough to cajrry fresh conviction. The serious portions are not quite so interesting as tlie remainder, but they servo to'show the versatility of Mr Barrymore's talent. Ho is always original, and his personality is on e , of which we never tire. The film is a worthy and varied contribution to the long list of Grand programmes. The supporting pictures are very good indeed including "The Broken Coin" (No. 6.) The two nearest winmrs of the last competition are Miss FiaveU, 40, KivnBank, and G. B: Hooper? Sox 106, Wanganui. A n/>w competition starts to-day.
