At a meeting of the.Board of Management of the Wanganui V.M.C.A., •held last evening .(the-president,- Mr Len E. Bassett, in the chair), a great deal of important business relative to tlhe approaching opening of the institution was dealt with. The work of furnishing the building is in full swing, and the report of the furnishing coamnittee, concerning several important details, was considered and adopted. In view of the large amount of work entailed ia connection with the opening of the institution it was resolved to add an advisory committee to the executive, and a number of gentlemen representing the different denominations were elected as members thereof. The secretary presented a budget for the first year's operations, embodying a full and comprehensive progriamrn© covering every phase of the association's work. Tile budget was referred to the finance committee for consideration. A resolu-

tion was passed authorising the organisation of standing committees to control the various branches of the work. The secretary presented a lengthy report on ihe work done at the recent National Conference at Auckland, but in view of the urgency of local business consideration thereof was deferred for the present. The Board ad]owned, until Monday evening next, when it is hoped the members of the advisory committee will take their seats.
