HUNT CLUB BALL.
A BRILLIANT FUNCTION
The Rangitikei Hunt Club has, in the past, received great kudos for the excellence of its annual balls, but never in the history of the club has there been such a brilliant assemblage as on the occasion of this year's function held ct the Opera House, Marton, on Friday night. Great preparations had been made for the affair, and the decorations were on a most elaborate scale. The stage was beautifully arranged with lycapodium, growing trees and ferns, with cosy arbours, and from the dress circle the effect was such as to make onlookers believe for the moment that they were looking down upon a wonderland. The whole of the decorations manifested great artistic ta^te, and those responsible fulN merited the great praise bestowed. In the absence at Rotorua of the Master, Mr. D. G. Riddiford, and his wife, Mrs. A. H. Bill superintended arrangements, and associated with her were Mrs. Arkwright, Mrs. Gibson. Miss Levett, Miss Simpson, Miss Lane Miss Smith, and others. The duties of M.C. were mosfc successfully carried out by Mr. Hugh Cameron (Deputy Master), and Messrs. A. H. Bill and Gibson.
Guests came from Wellington, Pnlrnerston, Feilding, Hunterville, 'Wanganui, and the surrounding district. There was no criticism but one unanimous verdict that the 1913 Hunt Club Ball had reached the top rung in the ladder df success and complete enjoyment, and that it was without an exception the finest held on the Coast this season.
