FANCY DRESS BALL.

FROM FEILDING TO ELTHAM

The Halcqmbe Tennis Club's plain and fancy dress ball proved a huge success, and the ladies connected with theclub, particularly Mesdames McLennoii, Franklin, Fabe'r, .and Couch, went to no- end of trouble to provide an appetising supper and to decorate the hall with flags and evergreens, Messrs. Franklin and Couch taking considerable trouble in the"latter duty. Deh'ghtful music was provided by Mr. Baker a Feilding orchestra, which, by the way, has had three* engagements running for dances this week, and seems to have caught the popular fancy, while Miss Morrison, Mrs. Morrison, and Mr. A. J. Bell played extras. Mr. Sam Cameron, who is about to leave for Eltham to take- up farming pursuits, after residing in Feilding for many years, was last evening the guest of a number of friends. Mr. E. Short, who presided, after referring to the many good qualities of Mr. Cameron, handed him a well filled nurso of sovereigns as a token of esteem and gcoa wishes of a large circle of his friends. Halcombe has decided to establish *. brass band, and it is anticipated that the combination will be in full swing by Christmas, and herald the greot anniversary in with Christmas carols.
