TRIBUTE TO BARRY

LONDON, Oct. 29. In presenting Barry with the "Sports-
man's" cup, Lord Desborough paid a
tribute to Barry for raisins English sculling from the abyss wherein it had been wallowing for many years. He mentioned the fact that many who were pursuing rowing and sculling in Australia had told him both at Stockholm and Henley prior to the world's championship of 1912 that Arnst was not only the best sculler of that time, but was capable of ranking with the chief scullers Australasia or any other country ever produced. More Kbnour, therefore, was due to Barry for bringing the championship back to England. Barry, in reply, said he hoped to hold the trophy for many years. The "Sportsman" has provided another cun.
