Although few in number, still what were there were of excellent quality. The Berkshire and Yorkshire breeds were represented by some excellent animals. Of the Berkshires, the boar exhibited by the Boys' Training Farm, Weraroa, was a splendid animal, while the Porirua Hospital's entries were all good types, and there is no doubt farmers tiasirous of improving their stock have several good sou fees of supply. Monkton and Fetch, of Feilding, had a, very good pen in Class 280 (sow and littor). By some means or another a largo black sow and little got into this section, and although a splendid animal, with an excellent litter, the entry was diisqualiiied. ; Only 12 pigs faced th-c judge in all classes of the Tamworth, section 289 (sow under six months), being the only one with more than two contestants. Some very rrood types of animals were seen among the Yorkshire class, the boar under 12 months exhibited by Mr Young, of the Waikato, drawing "forth favourable comments from the judge. Of the large blacks, class 299 (boar under six months) was very hard to judge. Although there w«rc only two entries, both uhowed great quality. Speaking subsequently to Mr Banner, of the Feil- , ding Technical School, I was informed that in his opinion the exhibit sur- ; passed that of the Royal Show, Sydney, but the accommodation was the worst he had ever seen. The pens were far too small; in fact, there" was not enough room for the matured animals to move about in. There is no, doubt tho provision for pigs is by no means in keeping with other excellent appoint- . mcnti.; of tho show grounds. j The pivizo awards, including cham- ! pionships, were p.s follows: ; Boar 12 months and over. —Porirua Mental Hospitals' Berkshire first and champion.
