Tho Rangitikei County Council recently made application to the Government, for a £ for £ subsidy up to £800 for tho purpose of erecting a traffic bridge over the Hautapu stream to replace the one re^entlv washed p."'~v. when five lives wero lost. No definite word has yet been received, but it i« confidently anticipated that a sum will h-Q placed on the supplementary estimates to enable the work to bo proceeded with.
