FARMERS AND ACCIDENT INSURANCE.
AN IMPORTANT QUESTION

When tho Farmers' Union Provincial Council mot in Palmerston tho question of fire and accident insurance was discussed. The matter received further consideration at the Dominion Conference, and since then the president of the union (Mr J. S. Wilson) has, through the medium of Mr Edward Newman, M.P.. been in communication with the Prime Minister in regard to tho question of extending the Mutual Fire Insurance Act, to en a bio tho Association to undertake accident hu-simss. Tho Hon. Mr. Massey, who had a great deal to do with the original Mutual Insurance Act, assisting the late Mr Kirkbride in its preparation, and securing its n-nssage through, tho House, is favourably inclined to the ne-w proposal, but see« littk? hope of dealing with it this session.
