. VERY HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODS. (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, Oct. 24. Very heavy rain has been experienced hero for the past two days, more particularly in the country, and the rivers are flooded, owing to the mouth of ,the Esk blocking. The adjacent flats are submerged to & depth of three feet. The mouth has been re-opened and the flood water is rapidly getting away. Over two inches of rain fell in the town in the last twenty-four . hours. Shearing operations are greatly delayed, land ]the prospects for the #irst wool sale' of the season, next month, are anything but promising.
