The sale oi: Mr T. Luxton's pedigree and grade stock at Waitara Road on Wednesday, tho 11th inst., attracted ;i Largo number of buyers from all parts of the district. Competition was keen for all pedigree stock and prices realised furnished abundant proof of the unabated popularity of the Jersey. The noted cow "Grannie's Girl," having been mated with Mr Goodson's ne-.vly imported bull ' "The Squire." was the centre of attraction, and she wa? secured by her former owner, Mr E. Griffiths, at the reserve, of 100 gns., who is to be. congratulated upon his pluck and enterprise. Prices for other cows, some of which wore aged, ranged from 23 to 11 gns. A yearling heifer made 36 gns., and heifer calves froni 21-i gns. to 27^ gns. Aged bulls made 32 to 19 gns., yoarling bulls 23-| to 42 gns. The grade dairy cows were a good useful lot, mostly at full profit, and met with plenty of competition, realising as follows: —Cows at profit and close up, heavy grade 10 to 15 gns., later and ordinary £~-> to £9 15s, old and very late £2 to -£4 10s. springing heifers £G 15s to £7, grade heifer calves ]8s to £2 10s, yearling heifers £5 7s 6d to £5 15s, m-ade yearling bulls £2 2s 6d to £3 15s. ' * On Thursday, at Waiwakaiho. I had a fair yarding of all classes. Bidding throughout was keen and good business resulted during the afternoon, desnite the very wot weather. Dairy heifers were much sought after. Mixed yearlings made 31s to £2 14s Cd. yearling steers £2 to £2 Is. yearling heifers £2 os Oil to £2 7s 6d, 2-year heifers £3 9-=, to £4 Is. Jersey yearling heifers £8 5p Gn. store cows £3 2s. 2-year steers £4 ss, fat cows £5 ]9s, springing heif- j ors G 4to £0, springing cows £4 to £5 lO.s, p.b. . English Leicester ewes and lambs 27s 6d, do, 2-th ewes 30s, do. rams 1J to 2 °ns., yearling Jersey bull £5 19s. During the week T have sold privately a good number of cattle at the following prices:—Mixed yearlings £2 to
£2 11s, yearling steers £2 7s 6d, yearling heifers £2 9s to £3 2s 6d, 2-year empty heifers £3 15s to £4 10s, 2-year steers £4 to £4 7s 6d,, store cows £3 10s to £4, 3-year bullocks £6 15s, fat bullocks £8 15s to £11, fat cows £5 15s to £10 10s, fat heifers £5 to £5 10s, v.'orking bullocks £32 a pair, in calf heifors £4 10s, springing heifers and in calf, in lines of 20, £V> 15s, herd of dairy cows £8 10s, pedigree Holstein bull 50 gns., ewes 12s 6d to 14s, ewes and lambs 12s 6d to 16s 6d, fat ewes 18s 18s 6d, hoggets 12s to 15s, fat wethers 20s to 24s 6d, mixed sheep 13s 6d to 18s 6d.
