For travelling; on the railway line at Patea with a ticket which had been transferred from another man, and which ticket had been used for part of the journey between New Plymouth and Wangnnui, a man namod l'renk Morr.an was fined £5 at the S.M. Court yesterday, costs amounting to 7s,' wnii a witness' expenses 21s and solicitor's fee £3 3s being added. Another eiuuge against the same defendant for travelling without having paid his fare, or with intent to evade payment, war. withdrawn. Defendant did not appear, but sent a letter admitting the offence.
A woman was also prosecuted for having made a false declaration in the consignment note for goods shipped l>> tho railway. Sho pleaded guilty, and was fined Is. costs 17s, and solicitor s fee 21s.
A Maori was proceeded against by the Inspector for failing to clip his sheep. Ho was convicted and fined £'A los, with costs 7s.
Tn the case of Mary Jane Neal v. .Arthur Neal, a separation order w::> granted, complainant to have the guardianship of two sons and the defendant the guardianship of the girl. Defendant was ordered to pay 17s Gd a week maintenance, and the costs (amounting'to £1 Is).
