THE UNEMPLOYED.

CHRISTCHURCH, July 1
Twelve unemployed will be sent north by the Maori this evening for bushfelling at Waitotara. The Labour Bureau is also sending a number to all parts of the Dominion m response to casual requests for men. The number of callers at the Bureau lias diminished. The efforts of the City Council and the Labour Office have considerably decreased the number of men unemployed.
DUNEDIN, July 1
The Minister of Labour, as a result of an interview with Mr Mac Andrew, Engineer of Railways, and Mr'Le Cren, head of the Labour* Department, to-day gave instructions for twenty-five men to be selected for employment at the Mosgiel duplication works.
As a. result of the combined efforts of tho Department and the local societies^ the unemployed at Dunedin, which stood at 279 recently, have been reduced to 70.
It is anticipated that the trains on the duplication lino will be run toGreen Island at the beginning of next year and to Mosgiel by Christmas, 1910.
