FEMALE WORKERS IN BOOTMAK-

WELLINGTON, June 18. An-award embodying an agreement re female workers in the bootmaking trade has been filed at the Arbitration Court. It applies to "Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland. Preference is given to Unionists. The hours, are fixed at 45 per week, overtime to be paid at the rate of time and a quarter for the first two hours and time and a half after that. The minimum' wage for females, after fivo years, is £1 7s. 6., wax-thread machinists £1 los., apprentices, first year 75., second lls., th:rd 155., fourth 195., fifth 235. The award expires in 1911. , ' .
