In connection with the durbar. Lord Curzon, as Grand Master of the Order- of the Star of India and the Order* of the Indian Empire, held grand chapters of brilliant investitures in the throne-room ■of the Great Mogul's audience1 hall, which was lighted with electricity, heightening the architecture and display.. Brilliant eo.stumes and priceless jewels were worn, and well-marshalled processions and grouping were a feature of the event.

The Duke of Connaught's mantle was borne by two pages, swarthy little cherubs, sons of ruling princes.

Yesterday's State service of thanksgiving iv the open air was attended by the Viceroy, Duke and Duchess of Connaught, and representatives of all branches of the public service.
