SCIENCE CLASS
The subject of Mr Gray's lecture was "Expansion of Gases, Liquids, and Solids, caused by Heat." In a series of simple experiments, conducted by such apparatus as almost any teacher could make, the lee-' turer showed how the most important principles of expansion under heat could be taught to a class. He avoided as far as possible the introduction of expensive apparatus, but pointed out at the same time that every school that intends to give any thorough training in science must be equipped, not at the teacher's expense, with a certain quantity of necessary apparatus. Tlie lecture received most careful attention from the students, the regularty of Avhose attendance ponts to the popularty of this branch of Summer School work.
