H.M. PRISON, WANGANUI.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — On tho morning of the 26th inst. whilst taking a walk past H.M. Prison I saw a notico at the prison gate on which I presume were printed the rules and regulations of the said prison. I stepped across the railway line to road them, and while so doing a warder came up. to me and ordered me away, telling me at the same time that I was trespassing. lat once apologised and left the ground. Being a nephew of one of the late Commissioners of Metropolitan Police at Home, I can safely say that any person ■without fear or favour can read the regulations printed outside H.M prisons without any interference from a warder. I would therefore suggest to the authorities, that should this notice be placed there to tompt people to trespass, that one of the prisoners or the said warder would be well employed in removing the same. By giving insertion to these few lines you may save a few more inquisitiro people from trespassing, and. oblige R. I. C.
