THE HOLY COAT OF TREVES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I notice amongst tho cablegrams in your issue of yesterday, one from Rome stating that His Holiness the Pope has sanctioned the forgivenriess of sins of pilgrims visiting the " Holy Coat " of Treves in Rhenish Russia. The sender of that cablegram evidently retains some of those absurd notions respecting the teaching of the Catholic Church which were at one time so widely current, but which avo now long since exploded. To anyone knowing the Catholic doctrine the above statement is simply ridiculous. — lam, &c, Nonsence.
