This morning the Mayor, on behalf of the leading inhabitants of Canterbury, presented Mr Baok, traffio manager of the railways, who is leavißg for Tasmania, with a cheque for £300. In replying to the toast oii his health, Mr Baok expressed the opinion that within ten years, under careful management, the railways of Aew Zealand would be the best paying railwaya in the world.
