TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD

MEETING IN MASTERTON YESTERDAY. MISS STUBBINGS'S PUPILS ENTERTAIN. The Masterton Townswomen’s Guild held its monthly meeting in the Y.M.C.A. rooms yesterday afternoon. Mrs Copp presided. The thought for the day was: “What you put into other people’s lives comes back into your own.” Mrs W. H. Judd was elected as representative on the executive committee and Mesdames Copp and Brown were elected delegates. The president expressed the wish that the soldiers home on furlough from the Middle East would have a happy time. Members were asked to submit quotations for Christmas calendars. The circle leaders read their reports. The drama leader said they were holding a concert next Wednesday night to raise funds to buy screens. Mrs Judd distributed a number of socks to be made into urgently needed mittens. Mrs McWhinnie gave a reading on “Hope” as her contribution to the golden thread. After afternoon tea had been served the pupils of Miss Stubbings entertained with a musical 'half hour. Miss Stubbings was presented with a shoulder spray and was congratulated on the talent showed by her pupils.
