TIRAUMEA

COMING OF AGE PARTY MISS E. HANSEN HONOURED. (“Times-Age” Special.) On New Year’s Eve Mr and Mrs Hansen, Haunui, entertained a large number of relatives and friends in the Tiraumea Hall for the purpose of celebrating the coming of age of their eldest daughter, Elsa, visitors were present from Napier, Dannevirke, Masterton, Eketahuna and the surrounding districts. A most enjoyable time was spent in dancing and entertainment, music being supplied by Mrs Houlbrooke and Mr Rowden, extras being played by Mr Curtis, Mr J. Hansen, and Miss N. Wallis. The duties of M.C. was capably carried out by Mr Curtis. Mr Hale, Masterton, and Miss Edwards, Eketahuna, rendered songs. At a suitable interval, Mr Curtis called on Mr Scott Raleigh to propose the toast of Miss Elsa Hansen, who later lit the candles on the two-tier birthday cake, the icing of which was the work of her aunt, Mrs Payne, Eketahuna. Mrs Hansen served supper and dancing was continued until early morning. The Lucky Spot waltz was won by° Mr and Mrs Reg. Houlbrooke. Mrs Hansen" received the guests wearing a navy frock embossed in beige and Miss Elsa Hansen was attired in cream taffeta relieved with a pink spray. --
