NAZIS & TURKEY

PACT OF FRIENDSHIP SIGNED RESPECT FOR INTEGRITY OF TERRITORY. BRITAIN KEPT INFORMED OF NEGOTIATIONS. LONDON, June 18. It is officially announced in Berlin that a pact of friendship between Germany and Turkey was signed in Ankara today. The pact is said to be based on mutual trust and friendship. Both Germany and Turkey are bound to respect the integrity and nationality of their respective territories, and are not to take part in any action aimed at treaty powers. It will be valid for 10 years. It is pointed out in London that Germany throughout has been in a position to exert direct military pressure on Turkey. Turkey, in accordance with her obligations to Britain, kept Whitehall informed of the various stages in the negotiations with Germany and the agreement did not come as a surprise.
