ELECTRIC POWER
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA BOARD SECRETARY-MANAGER'S REPORT. LIMITATION OF LOAD BEING ENFORCED. "Since January the average monthly increases in the net revenue from sales of electricity have been noticeably less than what has been experienced generally during the past three years," stated the secretary-manager of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board. Mr Geo. Brown, at a meeting of the board in Carterton today. Mr Brown attributed the position to the fine mild weather experienced. The net revenue for the past month wys £6124. representing a gain of £144 on last year and a decrease of £55 on the estimate. The extra halfhour daylight saving would have little effect on the return. Mr Brown reported an increase of 9485 units of electricity sold. The number of consumers was now 6215, as compared with 6098 twelve' months ago. The procedure to reduce and limit load decided on by the board had been carried out. “I have no doubt, that we will be able to keep our load within the limit set by the Public Works Department," concluded Mr Brown.
The chief engineer, Mr H. B. Keenan, reported that in the northern area six service connections were erected. The reconstruction of the Villa Street area was almost completed. The reconstruction of low tension lines on the lower ends of Renall, Essex and Cole streets would be started as soon as possible. In the central area 10 service connections and in the southern area 3 service connections had been erected. The lack of skilled joiners had held up work on the Government's new sub-station at Moroa. It was hoped to liven the station on June 11.
