BRITISH SUBMARINES ACTIVE IN AEGEAN & MEDITERRANEAN. LIST OF AXIS LOSSES. ) LONDON. June 18. British submarines have again made successful attacks on enemy shipping in the Aegean and Mediterranean. An Admiralty communique states that submarines operating in the Aegean Sea sank an Italian tanker of 3,319 tons and also destroyed three caiques and an Italian schooner. One of the caiques was carrying German personnel and stores and another had oil drums aboard. In the Central Mediterranean a southward-bound enemy supply ship of 4,000 tons was sunk. Another enemy supply ship of 2,500 tons and a 500 ton auxiliary sailing vessel were also sunk.
